I did not get a verification E-Mail!

We have learned that some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and email software will block messages from ALLVOTE.org and classify them as spam. Verification E-Mails often arrive within 5 minutes (but may take longer). If you do not receive an E-Mail message within 4 hours after voting, the message may have been marked as spam.

If you know where to look, you may still be able to find the message. Some email software creates a "bulk" or "junk" mailbox into which potential spam messages are placed. First check whether any messages from ALLVOTE.org are in these folders. If your ISP blocks spam messages for you, you may have to contact them to find out how to access the blocked messages.

If you can not find the message, please contact us and we will help you complete the verification process.

We are working to minimize this problem for future voters!

Why do we collect your name and E-Mail address?

ALLVOTE.org will not provide your Name or E-Mail address to any third parties.

We will use your E-Mail address to send only two E-Mail messages:
      (1) an address verification request
      (2) confirmation that your vote was placed successfully.

We collect your personal information to help us verify that each vote placed through the web site is unique. If sufficient interest arises, ALLVOTE.org may allow an accreddited news organization to audit our voting records to confirm the credibility of our results; however, your personal information will always remain private.

Why do we verify your E-Mail address?

We verify your E-Mail to determine whether it is a real account. Otherwise, multiple votes can easily be placed using fake E-Mail addresses.

Why is a "code" required?

The code helps to prevent malicious computer programs, or "bots", from compromising our results by placing votes automatically.

To enter the code, read the five characters in the image from left to right, and enter them in the box labelled "Type code above". Do not include spaces, and use only lowercase letters. Because the letter "oh" and the number "zero" look very similar, only the number "zero" is used in our codes.

Tip 1:    If you have typed the code correctly and it still does not work, try reloading the page to generate a new code. Enter the new code and try to place your vote again.

Tip 2:    If you load the voting page and wait a while (30 minutes or more) before placing your vote, the code may expire. Simply reload the page and place your vote as normal. (You will have to re-select your candidate and re-enter your Name and E-Mail information.)

Why does the code work?

Human beings can easily read text within images. In contrast, computer programs that try to accomplish this "simple" task can be difficult to write and must be relatively sophisticated. such programs are further hindered when the individual characters are irregularly shaped and unevenly placed within the image.

How are the country-based charts created?

We determine a voter's country of origin automatically using a public database of IP address registration. Most of the time this method works reasonably well; however, because the database indicates the country-of-origin for the user's internet service provider (ISP), a small percentage of votes may be associated with the wrong world region. Although we recently began collecting country information from each voter to help improve the accuracy of our world-region charts, we have not yet integrated this information into the results.

Please note that the charts showing votes-by-country are not updated each time a new vote is cast. We intend to update the charts on a regular schedule, most likely every 4-6 hours, and possibly more often. A new vote will therefore not be reflected in the chart data until a few hours have passed. New votes will, however, immediately be graphed in the bar chart on the main page.
